Empower. Educate. Rebuild.
Himshikhara Socio-Cultural Society (HISCUS Nepal) is a registered non-profit organization, established in 1998 with the CDO Office (Reg. No. 742/054/55) and the Social Welfare Council (Aff. No. 7408, PAN No. 302144668).
We are dedicated to preserving Nepal’s traditional culture and empowering communities to protect their unique cultural heritage. Our work focuses on improving the lives of underprivileged people while promoting development that values both cultural identity and environmental sustainability.
HISCUS Nepal collaborates closely with government agencies, NGOs, CBOs(Community based organization), the private sector, and individual donors. Together, we work in the fields of peacebuilding, education, environment, and community development, and engage youth, women, and local communities to create a lasting impact.
We are deeply grateful for the continued support of The Nestling Trust (UK). Their partnership extends beyond financial aid, strengthening our shared mission to uplift communities. With their support and the cooperation of our partners and beneficiaries, HISCUS now focuses on addressing four key thematic areas that reflect the most pressing needs of communities today: women’s empowerment, education, community relief, and child support.
Each program area is designed to promote inclusion, resilience, and sustainable development through practical action and community participation.
Key Social Challenges in Nepal
Despite notable development progress in recent decades, Nepal continues to face a series of interconnected social challenges that disproportionately affect women, children, and marginalized communities. Addressing these issues is essential for achieving equitable and sustainable development. The following key challenges are supported by official and internationally recognized data sources, all of which can be publicly accessed.
Why Action Is Urgent
These challenges: poverty, gender inequality, limited child rights, rural marginalization, and lack of education-to-employment pathways are deeply interconnected. They reinforce one another, creating barriers that prevent individuals, families, and entire communities from reaching their full potential.
In response to these challenges:
Our vision is
a prosperous and equitable Nepal where every community thrives in dignity and sustainability.
Our Mission is
dedicated to improving the lives of women, children, and marginalized Nepalese communities through education, empowerment, poverty reduction, and community development.
