Project Description
Date: 28 August 2024
Participants: 21
Key Highlights:
- Introduction & Presentation: Brief introduction of the program, the ngo and the team members, information on what the participants would be doing during the program. Followed by a presentation addressing stigma and issues around menstrual health management.
- Sewing: For the practical portion of the program, the attendees were split into groups of 5-6, with the materials and instructions packets handed out to each group. Team members were spread across the program and actively checked in with each group, guiding the participants through the sewing process.
- Discussion: During the group activities, facilitators encouraged discussions among the participants, addressing any myths surrounding menstruation as well as questions regarding cloth pads and their usage.

- Filming: Throughout the session, filming was done for the purpose of creating a mini documentary-style video. (Before the filming itself, permission for recording was taken.) The video is currently available on YouTube for viewing under the Himshikhara Socio Cultural Society’s page.
Impact:
- The session encouraged healthy discussions around menstruation, with each participant being able to make the cloth pads. While some of the pads had a better finish, it could be attributed to the participant’s skill. The session, while teaching the skill of making a cloth pad, enhanced their sewing skill as well, while also encouraging discussion among the group itself and with the representative itself. The program’s potential has allowed it to be repeated.
