- Date & Location: 3rd February 2025, Kathmandu Metropolitan City Ward 3 Office
- Purpose:
- To document current practices, challenges, and opportunities within the formal waste system as outlined by Ward 3 experts on the topic.
- To understand the ward’s existing infrastructure, technical capacity, finance, and resources regarding waste management, and the challenges preventing improvement faced by Ward 3 within these contexts.
- Understand the issues related to public awareness and Ward 3 residents’ participation in waste management.
- Explore opportunities for collaboration and partnerships with stakeholders or other municipalities to better the SWM system’s potential.

- The discussion with Ward 3 representatives provided valuable insights into existing challenges and opportunities in solid waste management, which will inform the design of future programs. Based on the meeting, the NGO plans to develop targeted initiatives focused on raising awareness about waste segregation and reducing plastic use, while exploring practical, technical, and financial solutions. Additionally, lessons from this discussion will guide collaboration with local stakeholders and field experts to implement interventions that are contextually appropriate and sustainable for Ward 3.
